Picking the right toys for your kids can be a frustrating process, especially if they only want to tell Santa Claus what is on their toy list. To make your holiday shopping easier, we have created a list of the top toys for Christmas 2009 for any age:
Playskool Kota and Pals Monty Rex
Have you been to Target lately? The toy that is gaining the most attention is found behind a glass box with a large green button to push that activates the dinosaur. This dinosaur growls, walks, and it’s definitely one of the coolest toys for 2009. The dinosaur is the perfect gift for children aged three to six, but some children up to the age of ten might enjoy it as well. Having their own pet dinosaur is sure to attract attention from their friends and it’s pretty cool to care for a dinosaur with your imagination. Monty Rex is soft and cuddly and he reacts to touch. He does fun things like stomping, roaring, sneezing, and purring. Children can feed him and he makes a unique chomping sound. It costs about $50-$74 at retail stores and online. Don’t forget to add some batteries to your list so your child can use him on Christmas day.
Nintendo DS
If you have an older child on your list, the Nintendo DS is a great gift to give. This portable electronic gaming device is a lot of fun for children over the age of six. For younger kids, stick with the Vtech toys, they are easier to use and the games are focused on learning. The Nintendo DS is about $126 but you also need to add some games to make it enjoyable for Christmas morning. One game to buy is ‘Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story’ for $35.00. This is a popular game and your child will have a lot of fun conquering levels with the classic Nintendo characters.
Wii Fit
If you already own the Wii, the Wii Fit is a must-have. This gaming device allows kids to participate in a number of unique exercise oriented games like snowboarding, hula-hooping, yoga, skiing, etc. It’s a great way for them to learn new skills while they experience a great workout. Wii Fit costs about $80 plus $15 for the sports package workout games.
Nerf N-Strike Raider CS-35
While Nerf games are normally designed for boys, girls may enjoy it as well, especially if they have brothers. The Nerf N-Strike Raider CS-35 holds 35 darts and shoots them off rapidly, 5 at a time. It’s great for boys that love to play guns with their friends, especially since the darts are soft and safe to use. This gun is pretty light which makes it easy to run around with as they are hiding from their friends. The Nerf N-Strike Raider CS-35 is age appropriate for children over the age of six. It costs $26.99 at most retail stores.
ZHU ZHU Pets
ZHU ZHU Pets are great for girls and boys as they simulate a real pet. They are soft and cuddly and they make squeaking sounds. Each pet has its own name, along with a different personality, which makes them seem lifelike. It’s a great way for children to learn how to take care of pets without dealing with all the responsibility that comes with a living pet. Kids love to connect them so try to buy them more than one. Don’t forget the AA batteries for the ZHU ZHU Pet so they can start playing with them right away. ZHU ZHU pets are in high demand so they are really hard to find. They only cost $10, but retailers are charging upwards of $50 because they are in such high demand. Look for accessories for the ZHU ZHU pet if your child already has one and you can’t find a new one.
