The following are a few fun Mother’s Day craft ideas. They can used for gifts for mom, or can just be done on Mother’s Day as part of your celebration:
Stuff for them:
Checkbook holder: Most moms end up with the responsibility of paying the bills, and so a checkbook holder makes a great Mother’s Day craft. You need craft paper, a plastic check book holder, and things to decorate the craft paper with. You can get a glitter pen, or cutouts, or gems, or whatever your heart desires. If your mom loves flowers, for example, you could use pressed flowers, or flower cutouts. Cut the paper to the right size for a checkbook holder, and then use your embellishments to decorate it. Slip it into the clear plastic checkbook holder, and wrap it up to give your mom! She will think of you each time she writes a check.
Cards:
I love you a bunch card: Grapes or bananas all grow in bunches and make for good fodder to make a card for your mom. What you can do is make a card and depict a bunch of grapes, or a bunch of bananas. You can make faces on them, or write little notes to your mom on them, etc. You then write, “I love you bunches, Mom!” at the bottom. You can write a little note on the inside, or just leave it like a postcard. The point is, it is a fun craft, that can also be used as a great gift for your mom.
Mementos from your kids:
Poem on a doily: This is a great craft. Find a poem that you love, and that reminds you of your mom, and write it out on a beautiful doily. You can then decorate the doily with flowers, or a little love note, and frame it. It will be a beautiful wall art piece for your mom to cherish forever!
Potholders: A fun craft that does not require any special equipment is a decorated potholder. You can go to your local dollar store and pick up some plain colored pot holders. Then use buttons, fabric markers, and other fun embellishments to decorate them for your mom. She will think of you each time she pulls something out of the oven using them.
Jewelry:
Jewelry is a fun, easy, and usable Mother’s Day craft. Your mom will love making it with you, or love receiving it from you. Here is one really great bracelet idea.
Button bracelets: For this craft you will need an assortment of buttons in different shapes and sizes. You will need thread and needle, and you will need elastic. Start by making an elastic band that fits the wrist of the person the bracelet is for. Then using your thread and needle to sew buttons onto the elastic band. It will be extremely fun to make, and even more fun to wear.
