Graduations are a time when you celebrate the completion of something. This celebration is generally accompanied by the giving of gifts. The graduate gets the gifts, and usually their family and friends give them. So, what are some great graduation gift ideas? Here are some graduation gift ideas that are always good:
A laptop, computer software, accessories, etc: Graduates usually need something for the next level of school, or the next stage in their life. A computer is a great gift for a high school graduate as it will be extremely useful in college. A computer is also a great gift for a college graduate as they will usually find much use for it. If a computer is outside your graduation gift budget, then get a computer accessory that is not. For example, a printer, a wireless mouse, a laptop carrying case, an external hard drive, or external memory sticks, etc. are all useful, and make great graduation gifts. So, consider what they are graduating from, and what their next step in life is, and get them a computer related gift that will benefit them in that step.
Trips or vacations: When someone graduates it signifies the end of a period of time where they worked hard to accomplish something. A great gift for this is the reward of some relaxation or time off. It can be really nice to get a vacation when your last few weeks were packed with studying, writing papers, reading books, and taking stressful tests. So, go in on a getaway for them, or if they already have a trip planned, get them a gift that can go along with it, such as a gift card to a restaurant where they are staying, or pay for an excursion or tourist activity, tour, or activity at their destination. This is a lovely gift and one that will help them make memories and enjoy.
Money: A traditional and always appreciated graduation gift is that of money. Whether they are graduating from high school, college, hair school, or something else entirely, no one ever turns down a gift of money. Usually after being in school for years, and working toward something, some extra money is very nice, and something that can be useful, whether it is used to pay college tuition, buy some new clothes for job interviews, or just to have some fun and spoil themselves a little, it is great. So, when in doubt, give money.
Clothes: Often graduates have been poor for a long time, and have not had extra spending money to update their wardrobe or buy clothes appropriate for working in an office, or interviewing for a job. Thus, a new tie, a sweater, a suit, some slacks, a nice button up shirt, etc. can all make great graduation gifts as they are appropriate for new jobs (something that generally precedes graduation), and are an upgrade to most graduate’s wardrobe.
