Summer is almost over, and now it is time to get ready for a new academic year. When kids go back to books and friends, life gets hectic, so get prepared. The following are some tips to help you prepare:
- Tip one: Get the list of required materials from the school.
- Most schools provide students with a list of requirements for their next school year. All fourth graders, for example might need 5 notebooks, a dozen sheet protectors, and a box of Kleenexes. A high school student might need a special calculator, or a three ring binder. So, of course, you want to acquire the list of materials needed to start the school year, and obtain them all.
- Tip two: Find a nice supportive backpack.
- Students seem to overload their backpacks, and as a result, may end up hurting their backs. So, help your student choose a backpack that has plenty of straps, that are adjustable, and that the backpack has padding in the back. This will help add support, and get them through the school year without back pain.
- Tip three: Prepare your child to go back to school with the right equipment, new clothes, and a good attitude.
- A big part of going back to school is looking your best and feeling your best, as well as having the things you need. So, take your child shopping for new clothes, shoes, and any equipment they might need for their extra-curricular activities. A little shopping trip to get your child looking spiffy and prepared to participate in school activities can go a long way.
- Tip four: Make sure your child has a way to get to school.
- Of course, once your child has everything the need for school, it is important that they have a way to get to school, and home from school. One of the things you can do to make sure you are ready for the next school year is get your child on a bus route, or get them a parking pass and a vehicle. You can drive them, or arrange a carpool. You just have to make sure that your kid has a way to get to school.
- Tip five: Make sure your child has food at school.
- School is a long day, and your kid is going to get very hungry if they do not have a way to eat. So, get brown bags and food that works for packed lunches, or sign them up for a cafeteria meal plan, or whatever other option you have for your child to get fed daily at school. This might mean giving them lunch money, or having them come home for lunch.
