It is such a wonderful feeling to be a parent. Kids are such miraculous gifts from the universe that you can’t compare them to anything else in the world.
I feel myself blessed to have kids and I know how challenging it could be to maintain your kid’s health. It requires patience, foresight and watchfulness on your part along with willingness to listen to the parents on kid’s part. I can’t really tell you how to fix the latter one, however, I can definitely tell you how you can play your part well.
Though it’s quite common for the kids to fall sick round the year, during winters, the chances are really high as kids become more prone to common cold, flu and cough.
Today I am going to share some of my tips on how to keep your kids sick free this winter.
If possible, try to stay indoors during the coldest time of the day. I and my kids like to spend evenings outside during summers, however, in winter time, I involve them in various indoor activities like indoor board games, playing their favorite Hannah Montana CD or getting them enough books to keep them occupied.
I have found that winters can be a great time to re-bond with your kids. It’s just great to snuggle with them and read the stories together in front of the fireplace or watch their favorite TV show (you might not like those pesky cartoons but can’t help it because they won’t let you touch the remote).
Staying indoors will help your kids stay warm and healthy as they can spend this time sleeping, reading, playing indoor games or eating something healthy like hot tomato soup or some-thing on the same line. How about some baked Apples and potato cookies with cheese? I am sure your kids would love them in winters!
If it’s getting monotonous for them to play the same kind of games, you can ask them to help you out in carrying out some housework. This will keep them active and energetic and will compensate for the lack of exercise which comes along spending time indoors.
I know kids can be really problematic when it comes to making them cover themselves up with many layers! You really got to have patience and with love and little tactics, you can surely win the battle. I play a game with them which I would like to share with you. You can pick five colors and write them on small pieces of paper, juggle them up and ask your kid to pick three.
Once chosen, tell him that the three colors that he chose, would like to be on him for that particular day. This way you can make them wear 3 layers of different colors! This tactic goes really well with my kids at least.
In winters kids need extra nutrition to keep their bodies warm and strong. Make sure you have all the supplies with you to make great-looking healthy food for your kids. I have my kids eat nutritional food as this helps in making their immune system strong, which further prevents them from catching infections. Green vegetables, salads, soups and sprouts are great to keep your kids healthy and full of energy.
I hope these tips will help you keep your kids sick-free this winter.
Till next time…happy parenting!
