Many couples dread Valentine’s Day because they feel their romantic well is running dry. It can be a lot of pressure to have a day that is set up for people to be as romantic as possible. However, today is not the day to fear, the following are some romantic ideas for Valentine’s Day.
Getaway- While the ideal way to make a getaway romantic would be to pick your loved one up from work unexpectedly, in a limo, and whisk them away in a private jet for a getaway sans airport lines and traffic, that is just not realistic for the average person. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t have a romantic getaway, it just takes some preparation and forethought. Some of the ways to forget about airport security, traffic, and the mundane parts of getting away, and still have it be romantic is to have the room prepared with bubble bath, champagne or sparkling cider, rose petals, chocolates, etc. Walking in to your getaway lodging and having a romantic atmosphere can make any trip romantic. Then, spend the whole getaway doing things together, and that you both enjoy, and it will be sure to be romantic.
Candlelight Dinners- This may be a traditional Valentine’s Day activity, but it is romantic none the less. It is especially romantic if you set the mood in the room, with candles, roses, dimmed lighting, soft music, etc. If you are going to use this activity for Valentine’s Day, make sure you use nice dishes, set a linen table cloth, and try to make it a special dinner, not just your average, everyday meal.
Fairytales Come True- A really great, and often extremely romantic idea for Valentine’s Day is to act our your favorite fairytale. This does not have to be silly or cheesy. Just mimic the story line of your favorite fairy tale. For example, if you are going to do Cinderella, go dancing, as the prince and Cinderella met a ball. Then, set up a scavenger hunt, so your loved one has to seek you out, after they find you, have a feast (go to dinner) to celebrate. You could visit the place you were married if you are married, etc. In other words, read a story, and find activities that are similar to the activities the characters in the plot do.
When trying to come up with a romantic idea for Valentine’s Day, it is important to consider the person it is for. To some people, a nice dinner is as romantic as it gets, for others a grand gesture may be needed, and while for others, a gift made from the heart, like an album, could make any activity seem romantic. Think about what you love about the person you are with, and choose activities that express that the best that you can.
