With Christmas less than a week away and the season of the family all coming together, is there a place for video games at such occasions? We often see Nintendo adverts highlighting children and grandparents all playing together and the Nintendo Wii was the perfect console for having fun and playing together. Now that the Next Generation consoles are here what are we going to be playing with the grandparents come the 25th?
Just Dance 2014
The latest title in the hugely successful dance franchise from Ubiosoft is guaranteed to provide plenty of laughs and embarrassing moves. Just Dance 2014 features a new multiplayer mode, multiple routines for individual tracks and of course lots of new music. Just Dance 2014 is available on the current generation of consoles including the Xbox 360 and PS3 but also the Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Wii U. The best console option being the Xbox 360 or the Xbox One that utilises the Kinect brilliantly.
Super Mario 3D World
If you have a Nintendo Wii U then it may well have been gathering dust since the lack of games has been reported. Arguably the systems most anticipated character makes his return. Prepare for what has got to be the most fun and entertaining title to be released on the Wii U and will no doubt drive some Christmas console sales.
Super Mario 3D World is a brilliant game and an epic amount of fun, if 4 player co-operative mode doesn’t have you giggling at your friends mistakes then Mario’s dancing no doubt will. The 3D World looks great and feels engaging and fresh despite being a familiar Mario scenario. The GamePad can be used to interact with the world to find secret bonuses and hidden paths. Mario and friends could be as popular as the big bellied man in red come Christmas day.
Lego Marvel Super Heroes
Being recognised as one of the best Lego games, Lego Marvel Super Heroes is set to be a big Christmas hit. For any fan of Marvel super heroes this game delivers everything you could want from a super hero game. Boasting over 100 playable characters including The Avengers, X-Men and Dr. Doom. Lego Marvel Super Heroes really comes to life when you start playing together, whether you’re helping each other to solve puzzle or just fighting crime across the city. Be prepared for a few “Just one more hour please!”…
Lego Marvel Super Heroes is available now on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Nintendo Wii U.
A year on since Nintendo Wii U was released it seems that Wii U has finally started to bed in and the games are finally coming out to support it. Since the original Wii, Nintendo have dominated family time and it seems this year, though with a few less games, will be no different.
