Busy moms need something to help bust their stress, those loads of laundry, and stacks of dirty dishes, rides to practice, and piles of homework. If moms are too stressed out, they can’t be as effective. So, let’s take a look at some basic stress busters for busy moms.
If you want to bust your stress, start with a basic fun list. What is a fun list? A fun list is a list of the current activities or hobbies that bring enjoyment to your life. When the first signs of stress start to appear, you should pull out your fun list and do one of the things on it, right away.
Next, make a more advanced fun list. This is a list of the hobbies or activities that you have never tried but you think would be fun. This might be something like sky diving, or something simple like baking a fruit pie. Just make a list of things you have never done, but would like to try. Then, when your stress starts to build and feels like it is going to explode, pull out your advanced fun list, and do something fun on it.
If you want to bust your stress, a great thing to do, is get together with some girlfriends. One of the best ways to rediscover yourself and let go of built up stress is to spend some time with your girlfriends each week. Do you know why? Well, for one, venting is a great way to get stress off your back, and when you hang out with your girl friends, you are sure to vent some. Next, usually when you are out with your girl friends you have a good time. You go out to lunch together, you go to the movies to watch the latest chick flick, or you catch up while you paint your nails and laugh at things from the past. All of those things are a great way to bust the stress.
If your fun list and your girls are not enough to bust your stress, then it is time to pamper yourself. Of course you can do this any way you want. Go out and get your hair done. Spend an afternoon at the spa getting massages and facials. Take thirty minutes to get your nails done, or your toe nails done. It is amazing what a great stress buster getting a pedicure can be. If you are too busy, or too broke to pamper yourself like that, there are still ways to pamper your self for a stress buster. Once you put your kids to bed, light some candles, and take a steamy bubble bath. While you bathe your kids, put your feet in the water, and give your self a mini pedicure once it is over. There are plenty of ways to pamper your self.
When you are feeling just a little stressed, and just need something to ease your mind for a minute or two, take a little silence break. Sometimes stress is caused by an overload of activity or sound. This is not the kind of stress that is going to lead to a breakdown, but the kind that if not handled can make you grumpy and unreasonable. So, instead of risking that, take time each day to enjoy some silence. Turn off your phone, turn off the television, turn off the radio, and lock the door so no kids can bug you for five minutes. Then take those five minutes to regroup and feel better. Don’t feel guilty about taking time for yourself, and occasionally take more time, get a babysitter for no reason at all; your kids will appreciate it when they get a balanced and fun mom in return. You will be more relaxed, happier and actually be able to enjoy your family and be a better parent.
