Parenting is not easy, and mommy stress sometimes goes through the roof. Being a busy mom is not going to change. Having kids is a full time job, and when you add a job, a house to clean, meals to fix, etc. on top of that, it is no wonder moms needs some way to get rid of stress. The following are some great stress busters for mom:
Get daddy help: ok, so this may seem cliché, but seriously, talk to your husband, and decide on one night a week when daddy does dinner and the bed time routine, and mommy just gets to relax, take a bubble bath, read a book, or whatever she wants. If your schedules can’t allow for that, make it a morning routine instead that dad takes over. Having dad help with some of the things you do can greatly reduce your stress, and the time when he is doing that, and you are relaxing will get rid of the stress you already have. If dad is not around, then ask a grandparent, neighbor, or hire a sitter. Take one night a week for yourself, and do not be afraid to ask for some help. Sometimes help comes in the form of a pizza delivery guy. Other times help is the blessed Disney channel. Whatever it is, it is okay to let someone or something help once in a while.
Breathe deep: The act of breathing deeply and slowly can help your body get rid of stress. It slows things down, allows you to relax, and can even rejuvenate your body so that you have more energy. This is a great way for a busy mom to get rid of stress because no matter what you are doing, you can take time to breathe, and breathe deep!
Eat: One of the reasons moms get stressed and stay stressed is because they are so busy taking care of everyone else that they often forget to take care of themselves. One of the big things you need to do is remember to eat, and make it a priority. This does not mean you have to fix yourself gourmet meals for every meal you eat, but it does mean quit skipping out. Even if you eat a peanut butter and banana sandwich because that is what your child wanted to eat for lunch, that is great, just get some good food in your body so that you have the energy to take on the million and one tasks you have to do everyday.
Sleep: You are a busy mom, and you have a ton to do, but that does not mean you should stay up until all hours of the night doing it. Take care of yourself. Did you know the act of getting enough sleep is one of the most effective ways to get rid of stress? Resting your body so that it can perform functions well and with energy is hugely important to living a less stressed life. So, one night a week go to bed when you put the kids to bed. And one morning a week, sleep in.
Let things go for a while: Just because you like to have the dishes done as soon as dinner is over, does not mean you have to. Sometimes the best way to get rid of stress is to simply take a break. Let things go for a while, it really is going to be okay. After a small break you can come back at your life and to-do list with a renewed energy. So, when your child goes down for a nap, instead of instantly picking up the room, and folding the laundry, just sit down for a few minutes and watch television, read a book, and enjoy the quiet of the house.
