The trends of parenting change each year. For the year of 2009, trends tend to center around becoming a better parent, and raising, happy, healthy, well adjusted children that spend time with their family and enjoy life. The following are some of the top trends of 2009.
Home made meals of sorts: One of the biggest parenting trends of 2009 is more dinners at home with the family. These are not necessarily home made all the way; many moms are picking up a rotisserie chicken, for example, and then making the rest of dinner to go with it. The idea is that they get to have all of the benefits of meals at home with their family, but save time in the preparation so that the family can spend more time together on fun things. So, if you want to follow some of the big trends for 2009, then stop by your local Boston Market on your way home from soccer practice, and cook up some vegetables and break open a pack of rolls to go with it. The meal does not have to be all the way home made, it just has to be eaten at home and enjoyed as a family for you to be part of the trend.
Nature vacations: The next trend in parenting for 2009 is to take your children on vacation. However, not to your typical vacation destinations of the tropics or Hawaii, instead it is to take vacations to the great outdoors. Camping is part of it, but even if you stay in a four star resort, the idea is to enjoy the great outdoors. National parks, such as Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, and others are popular vacation destinations. Hitting up hot springs, seeing geysers, hiking to the top of high peaks, and enjoying beautiful meadows, prairies, forests, and more. So, be trendy with your kids this year, dust off their hiking boots, pull out the Camelbaks, and prepare your kids for a unique, fun vacation in the great outdoors. No luxury spa type resorts, rather the satisfaction that comes from a day spent in fresh air, and invigorating exercise.
Family togetherness is a trend that never dies.
Adult themed kids rooms: One of the biggest trends of parenting for 2009 is in decorating. Many parents used to decorate with kiddie themes. Their child’s favorite cartoon character, bright primary colors, tons of toys littering the shelves, etc. However, today, the new, sleek and chic look is back. Parents are using a more mature color palette to decorate their child’s room. Instead of primary colors, they use earth tones. Instead of cartoon characters they use patterns, leaves, and mature themes. The rooms are now decorated in schemes that will easily convert from a baby nursery to a room that would work for guests, or a room they can use in their teen years. So, follow the trend, get rid of your Dora or Diego sheets, and get some nice 350 count Egyptian cotton cream colored sheets.
Most of the top trends of 2009 for parenting revolve around going green, raising healthier, more natural children, and being a more involved parent.
