The bathroom can be a place where germs grow and spread. It is often moist. It is frequently dark. It is also a warm place. This is the perfect condition for mold to grow, mildew to form, and various germs to spread. So, how can you deal with germs in the bathroom? Consider the following
Cut back on the moisture.
The first thing you want to do is make it an environment that is not as conducive to germs. How do you do that? You clean and use your fan. The little fan in your bathroom that helps suck the moisture out of the air is not just there to keep the mirror from fogging up, it is also there to reduce mildew and other problems. So, turn your fan on before you turn on your shower to make sure it is working, and leave it on for at least 30 minutes after. Also, clean it regularly, as dust, etc. can make it less effective.
Sanitize and disinfect.
The bathroom is the place where you clean your body, but it is also where you eliminate, blow your nose, spit out plaque, etc. It can be full of germs, so you need to not just pick your bathroom up and sweep your floor, you need to sanitize and disinfect regularly, preferably once a week. When you deal with germs in the bathroom, make sure you use products and cleaners that kill at lest 99% of germs, and will leave your bathroom as germ free as possible. Use hot water, soaps, and cleansers on every surface in your bathroom, from the cupboards and knobs to the toilet and floor. Just be sure to change up rags as you go so that you do not spread germs yourself.
Be sure and disinfect all handles as well.
Clean regularly.
In order to deal with the germs in your bathroom you can’t just go in once a month, you have to keep up a constant vigil. You can buy the toilet cleaners that sit in the tank, and you can run some cleanser over the sink after you brush, etc. Regularly cleaning the bathroom keeps germs from building up, and makes it harder for them to survive.
Clean problem spots.
Toilets: Fecal matter is full of bacteria, so make sure that you regularly clean the toilet, and that when you flush the lid is down. This will keep these bacteria from splattering on other things or becoming airborne.
Counters: You touch the counters, and place items on it, such as your toothbrush, which goes into your mouth, so make sure you sanitize them weekly.
Trash can: the bathroom trashcan is often very gross, so make sure that you don’t just use a liner and take the trash out, but that you clean the outside and inside of the can regularly, liners leak, spills, splashes, etc. happen, which means your trash is a potential breeding ground for germs.
