Bullying can be a real problem with children. Schools, and other places where children hang out some need to know the ways to stop bullying from occurring. Bullying leads to a number of problems. Here are five ways to stop bullying so that kids do not have to deal with the self-confidence shattering, and fear inducing problem of bullies.
1. No tolerance policy. The best way to deal with bullying is to let every kid know right away that you won’t deal with it. Schools, churches, and other places where kids may spend time need to set out a bullying policy that has a no tolerance clause. No tolerance should include what will happen. For examples, if a school has a no tolerance policy, anyone who bullies is kicked out of the school, expelled. Of course, there are a number of ways to handle a no tolerance policy, but no tolerance it is.
2. Educate, educate, educate. It is critically important to educate kids. Kids need to understand the reasons behind bullying. They need to know that they should never blame the victim. They need to know it is not their fault when they are bullied, and how they should handle the bullying if it occurs. Kids who know that if they are bullied that they can be safe to tell a teacher or adult without being blamed, will be more likely to report the bullies. When kids know about bullying, and how to handle it, bullying is quickly put to an end.
3. Help kids be more confident. It can be really effective to stop bullying by improving every kid’s confidence. The better they feel about themselves, the more likely they are to not put up with bullying, and to not bully others themselves. Bullies are often insecure, and so they pick on others. Others are insecure, and so they don’t tell, and the bullying continues.
4. Intervention is also really helpful for stopping bullying. If bullying occurs, the first step is for the authority in the situation to step in and put a stop to it. Intervene in every way possible. This means tell the bully’s parents, talk to the bully’s teachers and school principal. Get lots of people involved, and the bully will be less likely to ever bully again, as they will know that people are watching.
5. Monitor situations where bullies may be. For example, get a playground monitor, and make sure that they are watching the far corners, and the places that bullies may take advantage of limited view, etc. Make sure the bus driver knows where to watch for bullying, and ensure that those areas are monitored.
Stop bullying before it starts and make sure bullies know the act of bullying will not be put up with. Make sure that other kids know better than to let themselves be bullied, and how to handle it if they are bullied.

The only thing you can do to help bully-proof your child is that encourage friendships. Start early in helping your child build social skills and make friendships and teach your children to express themselves clearly yet tactfully. The idea of my children being harmed or lost is not something anyone wants to consider. I found an article by anationofmoms about a service that can protect your family via your cell phone. Furthermore, at the bottom, there is an opportunity to enter a drawing for 6 months of that service just by liking them on Facebook.
