When you face different milestones in your life you have different worries. For example, when you are pregnant you may worry about the health of your child, or your weight gain being in control. When you get a new job you may worry about whether or not you will learn quickly, or if you will get along with others in the office. As you can see, different things in your life may bring out different worries. However, as a teenager there are going to be things you worry about on a regular basis just because you are a teen, that have nothing to do with significant events in your life.
Acne: part of being a teen means trying to fit in, and dealing with the various hormonal roller coasters that they are all on. Acne is a worry many teens have. Boys and girls alike, as a teenager you want to fit in and have people like you, and having zits makes life hard. When your hormones are crazy, sometimes your skin gets the worst of it. Teenage girls worry about breaking out before dances or dates, or when they like someone. Teenage boys worry about what girls will think of them if they have acne.
Friends: one thing that worries teens on a regular basis is their friends. Whether they are worried about a friend, or worried about having friends, friends cause worries to teens. Many teens worry about how secure their friendships are. When you are a teen you do not value friendships as much as you may eventually, and often you will give up a friend for a boy, or a girl, or for an advantage in the social game. This is the cause of much worry among teens. Many teens worry about not having friends, or being left out of things their group does. As a teen, the worries that come with friends are often greater than any other worry.
Dating: dating worries teens on a regular basis. Teens worry about things like whether or not they are attractive to a certain individual, or just more attractive than someone else. Teens worry about how serious they should date, what level of physical intimacy they should be on with a significant other, whether or not they will be accepted if they do not date, whether they will be asked to the dance, or have a date for the weekend party or activity. Dating, not just going on dates is a big concern. There are many other worries that fit in this category including image, intimacy, and more.
School: school is a worry many teens face regularly. They worry about classes, teachers, grades, homework, getting into college, and more. There is a whole host of things to worry about with school. Because school is one of the things that you do the most when you are a teen, it would be abnormal if it was not a worry.
Family: many teens worry about their family. They worry about their parents being mad at them. They do not get along with siblings. They worry about any sort of struggles their family may be having, whether it is divorce, money problems, etc.
Teens worry about all sorts of things on a regular basis. Worry is a true issue, and can cause undue stress on your teenager. So, talk to your teen about things that they can do to eliminate stress. Talk to them about how they can control some things in their lives, and other things they can’t, and not to worry about the things outside their control.
