1. Drive less.
If you want to spend less on fuel, then drive less. You can do this by using public transportation, walking, biking, or you can simply combine trips, etc. to make it possible to drive less.
2. Use the Internet.
You can use sites like gasbuddy.com, or other similar sites to find the stations that have the lowest prices for gas in your area. If you check online before you go out to fill your tank, you won’t kick yourself for filling up at one place when the place down the street is five cents less per gallon.
3. Overlap errands.
If you can overlap errands, and make your drives as efficient as possible, then you will spend less on fuel because you won’t need to go out and run little errands all of the time, and you won’t drive inefficiently. So, plan your routes so that you make all of your stops in the best way possible.
Try overlapping errands while you’re out.
4. Car pool.
Car pooling is a great way to spend less of fuel. If you rode places with someone else just once a week you would save 1/7th of your fuel budget, imagine how much more you could save if you got in on a group car pool. So, look for car pools at your work, school, etc.
5. Keep car in good repair.
The better your car is taken care of, the more fuel efficient it will be. Make sure your tires are at the correct pressure, that the oil is changed regularly, and that the air filter is replaced at the right time. All of this will prolong the life of your car, but it will also help you have better fuel efficiency.
6. Drive slower.
Speed limits are set for a reason, but besides following the posted laws, driving slower is more fuel efficient. So, if you want to bail out your fuel budget, drive at speeds under 55 miles per hour.
7. Use less AC.
The air conditioner is not good for fuel efficiency. If you want to improve your fuel efficiency then do not run the air conditioner if you are driving under 35 miles per hour, instead roll your windows down. Once you are over that speed, the drag on the car causes fuel inefficiency, and so you are better off running your AC.
8. Drive smarter.
Quick accelerations, and quick braking take more fuel. You can cut back on your fuel spending if you learn to drive smarter so that your fuel is getting as much punch per gallon as possible. You pay in fuel to accelerate, so let your car decelerate naturally rather than punching the brake.
9. Keep tank half full.
Gas can expand and contract with temperature differences. To keep the gas you bought, try not to let your tank get below half. Fill up in the mornings, or when it is cool so that the gas you get is denser, and thus you get more.
10. Use rewards cards.
Buy your gas at a discount by buying it with groceries and getting a discount, or by using a card that gives you a percentage back as cash.

These are really down to earth and informative ideas thanks for posting. Completley agree with point 10 that is a very good step to save on fuel costs. You can save money on fuel and other bills with a cashback credit or debit card.
